Roof-work safety

Working on a roof is dangerous — falls are a leading cause of construction deaths. Measure from the ground, from plans or from photos where possible; if you must go up, use proper fall protection; and consider hiring a licensed roofing professional. Nothing here is a substitute for professional judgment on site.

Building code

Code-check tools (window egress, attic ventilation) cite the 2021 IRC (R310, R806). Local amendments prevail — confirm with your local building official before you build. These are not structural-engineering calculations: rafter length is geometry, not a rafter size.
